We’re super excited to interview Alan as he is also a moderator of the Sydney Startups Facebook Group. I found out that when we met up that he’s running a SaaS business, so we had to interview him for the podcast!

Cogmotive’s vision is to create tools to make SysAdmins and IT Managers’ lives simple – or at least simpler – by equipping them with the data they need while saving them time. Cogmotive is the leading global provider of enterprise level reporting and analytics applications for Office 365. They manage over 4 million seats & are used in 200+ countries.

Cadence is king

I want to write about a topic that I’ve mentioned in my podcast and in various discussions with other product folks.

I recently did a presentation on the Confluence Cloud mobile app to my fellow product manager’s in the Confluence team. I was giving a presentation about a decision we were making to get feedback. I got to the meeting early about 5 minutes before everyone else. So to give them some context, I drew a timeline. It was a straight line to represent the whole year, with horizontal marks for each month from January to December.

Then I did a review of the past year, writing on each month the release we had shipped in 1- 2 words. It looked like this:

* January – launch
* Feb – search
* March – notifications tab
And so on for each month.

In total, we have shipped 12 releases during the year from major feature releases to point releases with bug fixes.

This Mobile Life, Episode 3 – Chhai Thach from Go Reception

In the third episode of “This Mobile Life”, we chat to Chhai Thach, Co-Founder at Go Reception. GoReception is a visitor management system available on iPad and on the web.

We discuss how Chhai came up with the idea of Go Reception, customer success, and the impact of software as a service on enterprises. We also chat about how Chhai thinks about product and the challenge of focus. Go Reception is a product that has global sales with customers including MacDonalds, Coca-Cola, Rackspace, and Sydney Airport. It is a mobile/web app, available on the iTunes store.
