What I really like about Quora is its interface design, especially how it updates in real time to keep users on the site (New answer to this question; xxx starts to follow you; xxx voted up your answer, etc.). Although the format is similar to Yahoo Answers, the community is more like a grown up Reddit.

Bruno - I doubt they would have done that. Perhaps someone you know in your facebook connections sent you an invite?

Is it just me or...(?) I have 2 Facebook accounts of which I use 2 different email accounts (and email client services). Those 2 accounts are only used for Facebook of which one account I have 4 friends and the other only 2 friends. The only email I received is facebook related--until today. In both accounts, I received invites to join Quora, of which I had to Google to see what Quora is. Is it possible that Adam D’Angelo and/or Charlie Cheever exited Facebook taking with them more than they should have (like my email addresses)? I find this rather odd and, moreover, disturbing.

I would actually love a more reliable Yahoo! Answers. You're right that it comes up a lot in search results, and sometimes it's actually pretty useful! Having it weighted based on expertise definitely gives it clout, but again, as you say, that'll work ok for tech stuff, but whether it scales is another question. I know that quite a few companies use Get Satisfaction, so maybe if that could somehow link to this?

*sigh* Again, it seems like more of these types of services are popping up, and the hard part is going to be aggregating the knowledge that sits in these different silos >.<
