Thanks for mention, Matt.

Sorry for the long comment... I will promise to start my own blog and do it there instead.... hehehehe...

Yes, being an accountant, commercialisation and monetisation is always at the top of my mind... LOL

I personally think that this technology will benefit smaller bands the most.... It allows them to leverage beyond the physical limitations of venue space.

Say, a band hired a concert venue for $1,000 a night and it fits 400 ppl...

If all the tickets sell out at $15 each, that generates a maximum revenue of $6,000 per show.

You can potentially leverage your audience base by streaming live online via Youtube or Livestream.

Now, being a small band, you probably won't have 120,000 people watching you. So, you could get away with using a much cheaper setup.

El-cheapo Broadcasting Services (EBS)

Streaming Costs (4 shows only):
$350 / 4 = $87.50

Camera Crew (3 random guys paid in beer):
$5 x 3 ppl x 5 hrs = $75

IT / Social Media Guys (3 geeks paid by association?)
FREE - coz they can pretend to be Rockstars & live their dreams

TOTAL EBS COSTS: $162.50 per show
(assumes equipment is borrowed or stolen)

So, if you charge $5 for each online viewer, you will need a minimum of 33 viewers to break-even.

That shouldn't be too hard right? How many Facebook / Twitter friends do you have?

What do you mean, "They are not real friends."? LOL..!
